LED šviesos parametrai, kuriuos turite žinoti

When we buy LED lemputės, we will see that a series of parameters are printed on their packings. Actually most people don't understand what they mean, so we are going to make a brief introduction below.

Power / Wattage

Power is measured in watts, which reflects the amount of electricity consumed by an LED light in one hour. For example, a 50W LED light consumes 50W * 1H = 50WH in one hour. So the LED lights with higher power will consume more electricity.

This is the voltage required by the LED light when it is working. Different LED lights have different working voltages, including AC220V~AC240V (for most countries), AC110V~130V (mainly for American countries), and also wide-input voltage, such as AC85-265V (can be used in almost all countries). There are also some LED lights that use low voltages, such as DC24V and DC12V. Low-voltage LED lights are usually powered by adapters, solar energy or batteries.

LED model

The LED models we often see include 2835, 5730, 5050, 3014, 3030 and 3535, etc. These numbers represent the sizes of the LED chips. For example, the size of 2835 is 2.8mm*3.5mm. The size of 5050 is 5.0mm*5.0mm. General speaking, the LED chip with different size has different power and brightness, so different LED light will apply different LED chips according to its design.

Color temperature / CCT

Color temperature, also called correlated color temperature (CCT), defines the color appearance of a LED light. CCT is defined in degrees Kelvin. A warm light is around 3000K, moving to neutral white at around 4000K, and to cool white, at 5000K or more.

Luminous flux

In photometry, luminous flux or luminous power is the measure of the perceived power of light. It differs from radiant flux, the measure of the total power of electromagnetic radiation (including infrared, ultraviolet, and visible light), in that luminous flux is adjusted to reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light.

Luminous efficacy

Luminous efficacy is a measure of how well a light source produces visible light. It is the ratio of luminous flux to power, measured in lumens per watt in the International System of Units (SI). Depending on context, the power can be either the radiant flux of the source's output, or it can be the total power (electric power, chemical energy, or others) consumed by the source. Which sense of the term is intended must usually be inferred from the context, and is sometimes unclear. The former sense is sometimes called luminous efficacy of radiation, and the latter luminous efficacy of a light source or overall luminous efficacy.

CRI

CRI is short for Color Rendering Index, which measures the ability of a light source to accurately reproduce the colors of the object it illuminates. It is a score with a maximum of 100.

Power factor

Power factor (PF) is the ratio of working power and an expression of energy efficiency. It is usually expressed as a percentage—and the lower the percentage, the less efficient power usage is. The LED lights are better with higher power factor.

Spindulio kampas

Beam angle is simply the measurement of light distribution. A smaller beam angle results in little light distribution and a concentrated, directional illumination.

IP grade

IP is short for Ingress Protection. Generally speaking, an IP label will take the format: IPXY, where X is the light fixtures protection against intrusion by dust and other solids and Y is its protection against water and vapor penetration.
X (or protection against solids and dust intrusion) ranges between 0 and 6; with 0 being the least protected and 6 being the most guarded.
Y (or protection against liquid and vapor intrusion) ranges between 0 and 8; with protection strength increasing as you move from 0 to 8.

Gyvenimo trukmė

The lifespan of an LED light is measured in hours. It is usually 30,000 hours or 50,000 hours. This is the lifespan in theory. It will be influenced by some factors of the environment, such temperature and humidity.

Working temperature & storing temperature

They are easy to understand, that is the temperatures required by an LED light in working and storing. If the temperatures are not in the ranges required, the lifespan of the LED light might be influenced.

Garantija

Normally suppliers will provide warranties for their products. They are often from 1 to 5 years. If the LED light fails during the warranty period, the supplier will provide a new light or parts for replacement or maintenance.

"LED light" is a term that encompasses many types of LED lemputės. Indoor LED lights

LED bulb

LED Ceiling Light

LED ceiling light, as the name implies, is mounted in the ceiling. It is a bit like recessed type of downlight, but in general, if its angle is adjustable, we call it a ceiling light, otherwise a downlight. LED ceiling lights are also widely used in halls, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, etc.

LED Spotlight

LED spotlight generally refer to the LED light with small beam angle and long projection distance. In real life, the LED spotlights we talk about usually refer to GU10, MR16, GU5.3, MR11, PAR20, PAR30, PAR38, etc. They might be also any big LED lights used outdoors. LED spotlights are usually used for decorations to build atmospheres. They are widely in homes, galleries, supermarkets or some outdoor scenes.

LED Corn Light

LED corn light has very high lumen and is usually with E27/E26/E40/E39 base. It is usually used with a lamp-shape and widely used in factories, warehouses, shopping malls and roads, etc.

LED Linear Light

Actually LED linear light is very similar to LED wall washer light, but it is not for wall washer. It is usually used in big buildings and used to draw the outline of the structures.

LED Point Source

LED point source is a small, round or square LED light which is used for decorations. It is usually used in large quantities and with a programmable controller. Through being programmed, it can generate a great many patterns and dynamic effects.

LED Underwater Light

Because LED underwater light has to be used in water for a long time, it is usually made of stainless steel material and has a waterproof level of IP68 to prevent rust and corrosion. Some underwater lights are also called swimming pool lights or pond lights.

Saulės LED lemputė

Solar LED light is a special type of LED light for it contains solar panels and batteries. It can be further divided into some sub-categories, such as solar street light, solar flood light, solar garden light, etc. During the daytime, they will be automatically charged and will be automatically turned on at dusk and last until dawn (if there is enough battery capacity). Solar LED lights are usually used in sunny areas such as the tropics and subtropics, as well as in areas with severe power shortages.

Kaip nustatyti belaidę DMX LED apšvietimo sistemą?

Paruošimas

Gavę mūsų gaminius, patikrinkite, ar visi priedai yra sukomplektuoti, kaip nurodyta toliau.

1. Kiekviename prožektoriuje yra antena.

2. Valdiklio rinkinys (jame yra SD kortelė, AC-DC adapteris, USB laidas ir nuotolinio valdymo pultas).

3. Belaidis siųstuvas (jame yra antena, AD-DC adapteris ir DMX laidas).

Kartais visus priedus supakuosime į tą pačią dėžutę. Patvirtinkite su mumis.

Montavimo schema

Visą sistemą daugiausia sudaro trys dalys: DMX valdiklis(su nuotolinio valdymo pultu), bevielis siųstuvas ir apšvietimo įranga.

DMX valdiklis ir belaidis siųstuvas turi būti sujungti DMX kabeliu. Siųstuvas konvertuos laidinius DMX signalus į belaidžius DMX signalus ir paskleis juos į visus šviestuvus. Gavęs belaidžio ryšio signalus, kiekvienas šviestuvas jį iššifruos ir parodys atitinkamą spalvą bei efektą.

Diegimo žingsniai

1. Sumontuokite šviestuvą.

Mūsų šviestuvai gali būti montuojami ant grindų, lubų, sienos ar apšvietimo stulpo.

Informacija apie maitinimo šaltinio laidus: raudona yra įtampa, mėlyna yra neutrali viela, geltona yra įžeminimo laidas.

2. Sumontuokite antenas

Šviestuvo apačioje yra laikiklis antenai montuoti. Įsukite anteną į laikiklį pagal laikrodžio rodyklę, kaip parodyta toliau pateiktame paveikslėlyje. Antena yra sulankstoma.

Šviestuvas rodys numatytąją spalvą arba paskutinę spalvą, kai jam bus suteikta galia.

3. Įdiekite valdiklį

Valdiklyje yra SD kortelė, kurioje saugomos numatytosios programos, adapteris ir nuotolinio valdymo pultas. Įdėkite SD kortelę į valdiklį ir gerai prijunkite visus laidus.

4. Įdiekite belaidį siųstuvą

Belaidis siųstuvas turi anteną, adapterį ir DMX laidą, kuris naudojamas valdikliui prijungti. Gerai įstatykite anteną ir DMX kabeliu sujunkite siųstuvą ir valdiklį.

Atkreipkite dėmesį, kad galinėje siųstuvo pusėje yra keturi dip jungikliai. Nustatykite 1, 2, 3 žemyn ir 4 aukštyn, kaip parodyta toliau pateiktame paveikslėlyje. Paprastai gamintojas nustatė šį numatytąjį nustatymą.

Kai įjungiate valdiklį ir siųstuvą, nepamirškite paspausti maitinimo mygtuko galinėje siųstuvo pusėje. Po darbo jo šviesos diodai mirksės.

Kaip pasirinkti programas?

Pradėjus veikti valdikliui ir siųstuvui, nuotolinio valdymo pultu galėsite pasirinkti programas. Pavyzdžiui, paspauskite klavišą 1 ir paspauskite mygtuką PRG, tada bus pasirinkta 1 programa. Prieš naudodami nuotolinio valdymo pultą, įsitikinkite, kad jame yra baterija. Paprastai jį nuimame prieš išsiuntimą. Galite nusipirkti vietinėse parduotuvėse.

Kaip rašyti DMX LED prožektorių adresus?

As our DMX dekoderis is developed and produced by ourselves, if you want to set addresses for our DMX LED flood lights, you should use our special address writer.

Our address writer has 4 keys. The following is their functions.

RD: read the starting address of the light fixture.
ADD+: increase the address to write.
ADD-: decrease the address to write.
LD: send command to write address.

The procedures to use our address writer:

1. Open the housing on the bottom of the light fixture, you will see a connector.

2. Unplug the connector on the back of the light, and plug the connector of the address writer to the light.

3. Our light fixture has four continuous addresses (RGBW version is four, RGB version is three). If the starting address is 1, then the rest addresses are 2, 3 and 4. Pressing the RD button on the address writer, you will get the starting address of the light fixture. If you want to write new addresses for the light fixture, please set the starting address by adjusting the buttons ADD+ arba ADD-, and finally press LD button. After finishing writing addresses, please press RD button to verify if the starting address is correct.

4. Disconnect the address writer and resume the previous connector again. Otherwise the wireless function can’t be used.

Kaip naudoti DMX 512 valdiklio programavimo programinę įrangą?

Mūsų DMX valdiklis turi SD kortelės darbo modelį neprisijungus ir kompiuterio internetinio programavimo darbo modelį. Šiame įraše supažindinsime su mūsų programavimo programine įranga ir pateiksime pavyzdį pabaigoje.

Operacinės sistemos reikalavimas:

Win7 / Win10, 32 bitai / 64 bitai.

1. Prijunkite techninę įrangą

Pirmiausia sujunkite visas lemputes DMX laidais ir prijunkite pirmąją lemputę prie DMX valdiklio DMX1 prievado. Tuo pačiu metu USB kabeliu prijunkite valdiklį prie kompiuterio.

Kai sistema suras įrenginį, tvarkyklė bus įdiegta automatiškai.

2. Paleiskite programinę įrangą FQ512-EN.exe

3. Sukurkite Fixture biblioteką

1> Spustelėkite meniu Lib redaktorius -> Atidarykite Lib Editor.exe ir pasirodys naujas langas, kaip nurodyta toliau.

2> Pasirinkite Spalva/PAR/Custom armatūros tipas. Užpildykite Armatūros pavadinimas, toks kaip mano armatūra. Nustatyti Iš viso kanalų iki 3 (RGB šviestuvams jis turėtų būti 3. Tačiau RGBW šviestuvams jis turėtų būti 4).

Lauke Apibrėžkite kanalą, įgalinti žymimąjį laukelį Įgalinti RGB, ir nustatykite Raudonasis kanalas į 1, Žaliasis kanalas į 2 ir Mėlynasis kanalas į 3.

3> Spustelėkite skirtuką Kanalo aprašymas šio lango viršuje nustatykite skirtingas kanalų piktogramas, kaip nurodyta toliau.

4> Neuždarykite šio lango ir nekeiskite atgal į skirtuką Fixture Config, spustelėkite Išsaugoti Lib dešinėje apačioje.

4. Pridėkite šviestuvus

1> Spustelėkite meniu Pridėti / pašalinti šviestuvus (A) -> Pridėti / pašalinti šviestuvus, pasirodys naujas langas.

2> Kairiajame lauke pasirinkite mano armatūra kurį ką tik sukūrėme, ir spustelėkite Papildyti mygtuką viduryje. Atsidarys naujas langas.

3> Nustatykite Pridedamų šviestuvų skaičius į faktinį šviestuvų kiekį (pavyzdžiui, mes nustatome 1). Nustatyti DMX Visata yra į 1 ir DMX pradžios adresas taip pat į 1 (jis turėtų būti pagal tikrąjį šviestuvų pradžios adresą, paprastai mūsų armatūros pradžios adresas yra 1). Ir galiausiai spustelėkite Papildyti mygtuką.

Dešinėje lango lentelėje bus rodomi šviestuvų pavadinimai ir adresai. Galiausiai spustelėkite Gerai mygtuką.

Kai pridėsime šviestuvus, programinės įrangos viršuje, kairėje, kiekvienas kanalas bus rodomas taip, kaip nurodyta toliau (1 kanalas yra raudonas, 2 kanalas yra žalias, 3 kanalas yra mėlynas). Dabar galite reguliuoti šviestuvų spalvas reguliuodami slankiojančias juostas.

5. Tinkinkite sceną

Dabar pritaikykime sceną demonstravimui.
Demonstracinė scena: RGB blukimo efektas. Kiekviena spalva bus rodoma 3 sekundes, o kiekvienos spalvos blukimo laikas taip pat yra 3 sekundės.

1> Nustatyti R:255, G:0 ir B:0 naudojant slankiojančias juostas. Lauke Laikas (sekundė), nustatyti Laikykite laiką iki 3 ir Išblukimo laikas iki 3 taip pat. Spustelėkite Įterpti sceną mygtuką.

Įdėję šią antrinę sceną pamatysite ją programinės įrangos apačioje esančioje lentelėje.

2> Nustatyti R:0, G:255 ir B:0 naudojant slankiojančias juostas. Lauke Time (Second) nustatykite Laikykite laiką iki 3, ir Išblukimo laikas iki 3 taip pat. Spustelėkite Įterpti sceną mygtuką. Pamatysite 2 posceną.

3> Nustatyti R:0, G:0 ir B:255 naudojant slankiojančias juostas. Lauke Laikas (sekundė), nustatyti Laikykite laiką iki 3, ir Išblukimo laikas iki 3 taip pat. Spustelėkite Įterpti sceną mygtuką. Pamatysite 3 posceną.

4> Paspauskite žaisti mygtuką, kad paleistumėte sceną, pamatysite šviestuvų poveikį.

5> Pagaliau išsaugokite sceną.

Failo pavadinimas turi būti 000 iki 999. Jis bus pridėtas su postfix .shw. Galite nukopijuoti šį failą į Rodyti aplanką valdiklio SD kortelėje. O šią sceną galėsite pasirinkti naudodamiesi valdiklio nuotolinio valdymo pulteliu, kai jis veiks SD kortelės neprisijungus veikiančiame modelyje.

Patarimai:

Jei turite kelis šviestuvus, kuriuos reikia nustatyti ta pačia spalva, galite naudoti Grupės valdymas funkcija.

Kaip mes pristatėme DMX valdiklio ir dekoderio funkcijas paskutiniame įraše valdiklis yra visos DMX sistemos valdymo centras ir jis siųs DMX signalus kiekvienam DMX LED lemputė. Gavęs DMX signalus, kiekvienos lemputės dekoderis pavers juos neapdorotais elektriniais signalais ir lieps šviesai rodyti spalvas, reguliuoti ryškumą arba paleisti specialų efektą. Galite naudoti gamintojų siūlomą valdiklį arba įsigyti patys. DMX valdikliai yra universalūs ir gali būti naudojami bet kokiam DMX įrenginiui. Tačiau jie vis tiek skiriasi, kaip ir atitinkama programavimo programinė įranga, jei iš skirtingų tiekėjų.

Paprastai pagal numatytuosius nustatymus teikiame šį DMX valdiklį.

Mūsų valdiklis palaiko maksimaliai 512 kanalų. Jis turi šiuos įvesties / išvesties prievadus:
2 DMX prievadai: DMX1 gali būti sukonfigūruotas įėjimui arba išėjimui; DMX2 skirtas tik išvestims.
1 5V USB prievadas: įvestis, daugiausia energijos tiekimui ir duomenų perdavimui prijungus prie kompiuterio.
1 RS232 prievadas: nenaudojamas.
1 RJ45 prievadas: nenaudojamas.

Mūsų valdiklis vis dar integruojamas su SD kortele ir turi nuotolinio valdymo pultą. Toliau pristatysime, kaip juos naudoti.

Mūsų valdiklis turi du veikiančius modelius: SD kortelės neprisijungus veikiantis modelis ir PC internetinis darbo modelis. Valdiklio SD kortelę reikia naudoti, kai jis yra SD kortelės neprisijungus darbiniame modelyje, o valdiklis turi būti prijungtas prie kompiuterio USB kabeliu, kai jis yra PC online veikimo modelyje.

SD kortelės neprisijungus veikiantis modelis

Valdiklis pasirinks SD kortelės neprisijungus veikiantį modelį, jei nebus prijungtas prie kompiuterio. Tai taip pat mūsų klientų dažniausiai naudojamas modelis. Mes jau paruošėme jums SD kortelę su kai kuriomis numatytosiomis programomis. Patikrinkite šias programas žemiau. Vykdant šias programas, lemputės gali pateikti kai kurias pagrindines spalvas ir kintančius efektus, kaip nurodyta toliau.

Taip pat galite nukopijuoti programas, kurias kuriate naudodami mūsų programinę įrangą, į SD kortelę. Pastebėsite, kad kiekviena programa yra su skaičiumi, pvz., 001, 002, 003… Kitas veiksmas yra įdėti SD kortelę į valdiklį, kaip parodyta paveikslėlyje.

Kai valdiklis pradės veikti, jis paleis numatytąją programą, kuri paprastai yra 001.dsw. Taigi, ką daryti, jei norite pasirinkti kitas programas? Šiuo metu reikia naudoti nuotolinio valdymo pultas mūsų kontrolieriaus. Prieš naudodami įsitikinkite, kad jis buvo įdėtas kartu su baterija, nes paprastai prieš išsiuntimą jo akumuliatorių išimame (baterijos siuntose paprastai neleidžiamos). Pavyzdžiui, jei norime pasirinkti programą 002, pirmiausia turime paspausti klavišus 002 arba 2, o tada paspausti PNG klavišą viršutiniame dešiniajame kampe. Jei įvedėte neteisingą numerį, galite jį atšaukti naudodami mygtuką OK arba STOP.

Išsamią operaciją galite rasti kitame vaizdo įraše.

Kartais galite pastebėti, kad negalite sėkmingai pasirinkti programos ir nesate tikri, ar ji sėkmingai susisiekė su valdikliu. Štai patarimas: LED lemputė valdiklio gale mirksės, kai paspausite klavišus, jei nuotolinio valdymo pultas sėkmingai susisiekė su valdikliu. Naudodami šį patarimą galėsite lengviau išsiaiškinti problemos priežastį.

PC internetinis darbo modelis

Apskritai daugumos klientų reikalavimai nėra labai sudėtingi. Jiems reikia tik kai kurių įprastų spalvų arba besikeičiančių efektų. Kokios yra DMX dekoderio ir DMX valdiklio funkcijos?

Mes tai paminėjome kitame įraše LED lemputė paprastai susideda iš 3 dalių: LED lustai, LED tvarkyklė ir korpusas. Tačiau DMX LED lemputė yra ypatinga, kuri vis dar turi įmontuotą DMX dekoderis. Be to, visi tai pačiai sistemai priklausantys DMX LED žibintai turi veikti su išoriniu DMX valdiklis.

Taigi, kokios yra DMX dekoderio ir valdiklio funkcijos?

Pirmiausia pažiūrėkime į tikrą vieno iš mūsų nuotrauką DMX LED prožektorius.

Matome, kad žibinto gale yra dvi tvarkyklės (viršuje ir apačioje) ir dekoderis (centre). Du juodi kabeliai iš tvarkyklių vedami į dekoderį, kuriame yra trys išvesties laidai – du juodi ir vienas baltas. Vienas juodas kabelis skirtas DMX įvesties signalui, o kitas – DMX išvesties signalui. Baltas kabelis yra prijungtas prie LED lustų, kad jiems būtų suteikta maitinimo ir valdymo signalai.

Taigi DMX valdiklis elgiasi kaip a valdymo centras visos šviesos. Jis priima išorinius DMX signalus, dekoduoja juos į originalius elektrinius signalus ir valdo LED lustų veikimą – įjungimą/išjungimą, spalvas ir ryškumą ir t.t. Taip pat perduos DMX signalus į kitą DMX įrenginį.

The DMX dekoderiai iš skirtingų kompanijų skiriasi. Juos taip pat galima nusipirkti tiesiogiai iš įprastos rinkos. Mūsų DMX dekoderis buvo sukurtas ir pagamintas mūsų pačių, kuris yra stiprus ir veikia labai stabiliai.

Atsakymas: Ne visai. Nes DMX (dažniausiai nurodoma DMX512) yra standartas. Visi DMX LED žibintai arba valdikliai palaiko šį standartą, todėl galite naudoti kitus DMX valdiklius. Taigi, kol perkate mūsų DMX LED lemputes, paprastai siūlome naudoti savo valdiklį, jei turite pažįstamą, tada nesugaišite per daug laiko mokantis mūsų valdiklio.

Protect eyes

Too dim or too bright light and blue light will do harm to our eyes. By using proper color temperature and dimming function of the LED lights can make our eyes reach a comfortable level. On the other hand, LED lights don’t flicker, which will protect our eyes in some extent. We can avoid blue light when we select correct color temperatures. For example, in many libraries 4000K or 5000K color temperature is adopted, because they are the closest to the sun light.

Protect environment

A lot of traditional lights contain harmful chemicals. For example, compact fluorescent light contains mercury which not only pollutes environment but does harm to human body as well. The more compact fluorescent lights are used, the more mercury chemical are accumulated. This problem doesn’t happen on LED lights, and many parts of LED lights can be recycled.

Customize color temperature easily

For the same kind of traditional light, its color temperature is difficult to customize due to the limitations of its light-emitting material. But this is very flexible on LED lights. It is easy to customize warm white (2700K-3200K), neutral white (4000K-4500K), cold white (5000K-5500K/6000K-6500K) or special color temperatures ( RGB, 25 000 tūkst, 2200 tūkst, etc) for LED lights.

Hard to damage

Most traditional lights are made of glass which are easy to damage if dropped onto floors carelessly by people. But most LED lights are made of plastic, aluminum or stainless steel materials, there are no worries even they are dropped onto floors. Only a small part of LED lights contain glass.

Easy to use

There are many troubles when we use traditional lights. Nowadays, most people have been very familiar with LED lemputės. We can see various kinds of LED lights everywhere including homes, companies, roads, etc. But many people only know that LED light is a new type of light that is energy-saving, and there are some benefits to use them. How many parts does an LED light include? If you are engaged in this field, there is a necessary to learn it.

Most common LED lights we see in our life usually consist of three parts: LED chips, LED driver and housing.

LED chips

LED stands for light emitting diode. LED chip is the most difference between LED lights and traditional lights. LED chips have very high brightness so LED lights are much brighter than traditional lights when they are in the same power. Actually the LED chips we normally mention have been processed and packed. Raw LED chips can’t be used to assemble LED lights directly. They should be packed, adjusted for colors and led out with electrodes. Then they can be soldered onto PCBs.

LED chips are mainly separated into two types by their designs: SMD LED chips ir COB LED chips.

SMD is "Surface Mounted Devices", which refers to surface-mounted devices, which are one of the surface-mount technology components. The normal types of SMD LED chips include 2835, 5730, 5050, 3030 and 3535, etc.

COB is "chip on board", which refers to chip on board packaging and is one of the bare chip mounting technologies. We often see that COB LED chips are used on GU10 or MR16 spotlights.

The advantage of COB LED chips is that they are easy to use, and their color temperatures are easy to customize as well. But they will cause more heat and their prices are also higher than SMD LED chips. So in recent years SMD LED chips are adopted on most of LED lights.

Famous brands of LED chips in the world include CREE, Philips, Osram, Bridgelux, Epistar, Sananas, etc.

LED driver

Generally speaking, every type of LED chips has its own working voltage and working current. They can’t work under the voltage of city electricity directly, such as 110V/120V, 220V/230V/240V. They usually work under low voltages. LED drivers are used to covert city electricity to the suitable voltages and currents that the LED chips require. It acts as a transformer.

There are also several types of LED driver: RC LED driver, Constant Current IC LED driver ir Linear IC LED driver. There are also some lights without drivers, such as low voltage LED lights.

RC LED driver

RC LED driver normally consists of only several resistances and capacitances. Its structure is quite simple and its price is very low. But it is not stable enough and easy to burn. In the early period of the development of LED lights, it was often used. But in recent years, it has been out of date due to its low quality. But even so, there are still some manufacturers using it to make cheap LED lights.

Constant Current IC LED driver

Constant Current IC driver is the best quality driver. It consists of a PCB, some resistances, capacitances and ICs. It can provide stable current to the LED chips. In this condition, the LED chips will have the longest lifespan. Constant current IC LED driver has isolated type and non-isolated type. The isolated type is safer and with better quality. There is no electric leakage when you touch it. But its price is also higher than non-isolated type.

Except for constant current IC LED driver, there is also constant voltage IC LED driver which provide constant voltage instead.

Linear IC LED driver

Linear IC LED driver is similar to constant current IC driver, but it doesn’t have independent PCB. It is integrated with the LED PCB. So there are limitations for this type of driver for it shares the space of the LED PCB. This will increase the difficulty of the design of the LED PCB and will cause more heat, so linear IC LED driver is not stable as constant current IC type. But it has an economic price.

You might see some LED lemputės without drivers, such as 12V/24V low voltage LED lights. They don’t carry any drivers themselves so they were considered having no drivers. Actually, on their LED PCBs, there are also some electronic components will convert 12V/24V to the voltages or currents that the LED chips need.

Famous brands of LED driver: Reiškia Gerai, Philips, Osram, TRIDONIC, MOSO, Lifud, etc.

Housing

The housing/light body is used to protect the light and as a heat sink. It is important because if it doesn’t have a good ability for heat dissipation it will influence the lifespan of the whole light.

We classify housings by their materials. There are plastic housing, ceramic housing, aluminum housing, plastic-coated aluminum housing ir stainless steel housing.

Plastic housing

Plastic housing is the lightest and cheapest among all kinds of housings. But it is very bad for heat dissipation, so it is usually used to make low power LED lights. There are several kinds of plastic material such as PP, PC, PS and ABS, etc.

Ceramic housing

Ceramic housing has good performance for heat dissipation and it was once used for some LED lights. But it is expensive, heavy and easy to damage. Nowadays it has been out of use.

Aluminum housing

Aluminum housing also has very good performance for heat dissipation. It is anti-impact, anti-oxidative and corrosion resistant, and has moderate price. So aluminum is the best material for housings of LED lights.

Plastic-coated aluminum housing

In order to reduce the cost of LED lights and make their appearances more attractive, plastic-coated aluminum housings are used for some LED lights, especially for indoor LED lights. The outside layer of this kind of housing is plastic while the inside layer is aluminum.

Stain steel housing

As we know, stainless steel doesn’t rust forever. It is normally used underwater or in very humid environments. This material is excellent, but too expensive.

Some LED lights don’t have housings, such as LED juostos šviesa. It reduces heat by the LED PCB, not heat sink.

We have introduced the above 3 parts that common LED lights consist of. You might want to say, the LED lights I sometimes see have one or two more components, so what they are for? A solar LED light consists of LED chips, housing, solar panel, battery and controller. A DMX LED light includes a decoder besides LED chips, LED driver and housing.

1. What is DMX512?

DMX512 is a standard for digital communication networks that are commonly used to control stage lighting and effects. DMX is short for "Digital Multiplex", 512 means 512 color channels. DMX has also expanded to uses in non-theatrical interior and architectural lighting, at scales ranging from strings of Christmas lights to electronic billboards and stadium or arena concerts.

We don't want to talk about the physical characteristics of DMX512 deeply here. We only need to understand that it is a digital data protocol and widely used in lighting systems. In the field of LED lighting, we often call DMX512 as DMX.

2. DMX Lighting System

Normally a DMX lighting system consists of a controller, numbers of decoders and numbers of lighting devices.

Remark: each lighting device has its own decoders.

Remark: all lighting devices share the same decoder.

The controller transfers DMX signals to the decoders, which will decode and convert the DMX signals to R/G/B electrical signals. Then the lighting devices can show different colors, brightness or effects.

Normally the controller is programmable. It can be operated by a PC software or is with built-in programs. The lighting devices are chained by DMX cables. Many lighting devices has integrated the decoders. Such as our DMX flood light.
